Magnesite regions Kladusa Magnesite deposits of BiH are genetically and spatially related to the zones of ultrabasic rocks (peridotite and serpentinite) in the Dinarides. Minor structure elements are magnesite ore bodies like ore veins. These magnesite regions are poorly explored and magnesite production so far only exists in Kladanj region, which makes this region the most interesting one#444°20 49 10 Magnesite region of Kladanj Ri TUZLA Magnesite region "Kladanj" is located about 16 km northwest of the town of Kladanj, related to the propagation of "Krivaja-Konjuh" ophiolite complex as one of the largest in the Dinarides ophiolitic zone. This ophiolite complex is dominantly formed by peridotites, serpentinated peridotites and serpentinites. Alternation of ore veins basic elements are shown in table: lenght thickness strike angle 75-500 m 0,5-5 m 250-280 dip engle 50°-80° Ri TUZLA#7Apperiences of magnesite ore veins Ri TUZLA These magnesite veins are formed by hydrothermal processes in the way that hydrothermal solutions, in it's ascending movement along the cracks and faults, have enriched itselfs with magnesium from the ultrabasic rocks, and later this magnesium in a form of bicarbonate has beed deposited in upper parts of ultramafic massif. Some authors these hydrothermal processes links to the tertiary volcanism, and due to that prevails opinion that these magnesite deposits are tertiary age. 1070 1060 1050 4 1040- 1030- 1020 1010- 1000+ 9.90- 980- M-110 | M-11 94 - 32 M-9 970- 1.5 H-960 H-960 960- 950 940 930- BJ 920- 4 H-920 910 900 890- 880- 870- 2.35 50.00 m UM-S 920 M-90 Legend: Lherzolite Serpentinated lherzolite with tiny magnesite veins HHA Serpentinite Serpentinite with cracks and tiny magnesite veins R-3 B9-IV Serpentine breccia Magnesite-serpentinite breccia with over 30% of magnesite Magnesite Sepiolite and quartz Tranchs Mining horizons Boreholes Cross-section Concession field boundaries#8• Mineral associations Mineralogical studies have determined following minerals in mineral associacion of magnesite ore: singenetic minerals: magnesite, dolomite, calcite and quartz, epigenetic minerals: neomagnesite, dolomite, calcite, silicates (quartz, opal, calcedony), serpentinite minerals (sepiolite, parasepiolite, chrysotile), chlorite, iron hydroxides, manganese oxides and clay minerals, mechanical inpurities: serpentinite, quartz, magnetite, chromite, clay minerals, biotite, piroxenite, amphibol, feldspar Ri TUZLA#9Magnesite mine "Kladanj❞ Existence of magnesite ore in the region of Kladanj was known even before the II World War. Ri TUZLA Geological exploration have been performed since the 60's of the last century until 1992, when outbreak of the war interrupted the exploration as well as exploitation of magnesite. Today, after more than 20 years, research has continued with reopening of magnesite mine "Kladanj " by the company "Rudar " Ltd. Tuzla. The latest data on magnesite region "Kladanj" refere to the study on magnesite reserves from 2014, which covered two ore veins (M-9 and M-11) on 75ha of exploration area.#10"Kladanj mine" ore reserves Ri TUZLA Magnesite reserves (t) Vein A B C₁ C₂ BVB C1VB Total by vein (t) M-9 4.391 34.497 15.147 19.291 73.326 M-9a M-11 15.001 M-11d 18.794 12.603 8.561 28.466 19.481 5.924 11.715 3.503 54.959 3.034 56.905 3.503 M-11e M-11f 15.800 11.466 15.095 6.123 38.276 1.295 23.218 Total (t) 19.392 109.272 64.820 53.669 3.034 250.187 by category Total (t) of A+B+C₁ 193.484 category Concentration degree of ore reserves is 87 m³/m² with exploration degree of 66,5%.#11"Kladanj mine" ore quality Medium weighted chemical composition of the ore veins Ri TUZLA Vein SiO2 CaO MgO Al2O3 Fe2O3 LOI. Finding the optimal methods of ore enrichment in order to reduce content of SiO2. 2. Geological explorations with an aime to increase magnesite reserves of an existing mine in approved concesion area. 3. Regional exploration in "Konjuh-Krivaja" peridotite massif in order to define new magnesite bearing locations.
