HOBART REAL TENNIS CLUB The Hobart Real Tennis Club, founded in 1875, is one of the oldest sporting clubs in the southern hemisphere. It is the oldest real tennis club in Australia and one of the oldest active clubs in the real tennis world. The game was introduced into Australia by Samuel Smith Travers in 1875, when he built the first court in Hobart. Courts were later built in Melbourne, Ballarat, Sydney and Romsey, although only Hobart, Melbourne and Ballarat are still operating today. The Hobart court is substantially unaltered from its original construction, except for the installation of electric lighting last century. The historic clubhouse, which fronts Davey Street, has been progressively renovated and extended over the years, but retains its original character and charm. The club is a fine example of colonial architecture. PORT ARTHUR HISTORIC SITE The UNESCO World Heritage- listed Port Arthur Historic Site, located 90 minutes drive from Hobart is Australia's most intact and evocative convict site. There is a lot to see and do with more than 30 historic buildings and ruins to explore over 100 acres so you'll want to allow a minimum of three to four hours. BANGOR VINEYARD - ROTORLIFT AVIATION (HELICOPTER TOURS) Bangor Vineyard Shed is an award-winning Vineyard, Restaurant and Function Venue, located 45 minutes from Hobart CBD, on Tasmania's tourist route to Port Arthur. Incorporating beautiful Tasmanian timbers and architecturally designed to take in the picturesque views over Bangor vineyard and Blackman's Bay, Bangor is all about fine wine, fresh local produce, sweeping views, and a warm rural welcome that'll make you want to stay awhile. HASTINGS CAVES & THERMAL SPRINGS Ornate caves, thermal springs and forest walks make an inspiring day trip to Hastings Caves. Located south of Hobart in Tasmania's Wilderness World Heritage Area, the caves were discovered by timber workers cutting trees near the entrance to Newdegate Cave in 1917. Relax in the 28-degree waters of the thermal pool, or set out on an easy forest trail. The short Platypus Walk (5- 10min) along the stream behind the thermal pool, with a good chance of spotting the namesake monotreme. The longer Hot Springs Track leads to a confluence where the warm waters of one creek meet the cold waters of another. POSH-AS DAY AT MONA Feeling posh and thirsty? Love that for you.
