An Amendment to Finnish Act on ships' crews and the safety management of ships entered into force on 1 July 2018 • • Possible to grant exemptions to minimum vessel manning requirements and watchkeeping for testing purposes The manning of ships can be reduced in automatization tests The legislative amendment promotes testing of advanced technology An inward-going ship required to use e pilot arrives at the pilot boarding station. The pilot center has a system containing real-time information regarding vessel traffic, weather, etc. Along the fairway there are a number of beacons and buoys equipped with sensors communicating with the ship and the pilot center. 2.
