For example, SDGs Target 6.1 which demands safely managed access for all to safe drinking water - and is measured through SDG 6.1.1. tracking "the proportion of population that is using an improved drinking water source, that is a) located on the premises (piped) b) available when needed c) free of fecal and chemical contamination" Geography of certain areas; e.g., Islamkot prove particularly challenging for such an intervention, where population resides in remote small pockets, making the accomplishment of the SDGs target unsustainable due to involved Capex and Opex costs. Solution: RO Plants for Safe Drinking water within 30min round trip for residents; and localization of the relevant SDGs indicator. 6 CLEAN WATER AND SANITATION With PO Governments need assistance of development partners to translate / localize Agenda 2030, cover resource gaps, feasibility, and evolve / innovate sustainable solutions#8حکومت حکومت سند Steps for deepening Localization in Sindh, Pakistan With SPOR עווווו • • Instituting SDGs Framework at the lowest tier of governance (local government) • Innovative solutions for domestic resource mobilization Promoting Public Private Partnerships to attract private capital and expertise • Development of Urban Planning Capacities and SDGs Compliant Master Plans Evolving robust Data Management System for monitoring and reporting progress on SDGs SS A Society-wide campaign to build the momentum on SDGs [Government, Citizens, Civil Society, Corporate / Business Sector]#9ومت سند حکومت سند Localizing if SDGs in Pakistan SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS Q&A THANK YOU Rafique Mustafa Shaikh Special Secretary / Project Coordinator - SDGs Support Unit Sindh, Planning and Development Department, Government of Sindh, Pakistan [email protected] SUSTAINABLE www DEVELOPMENT GOALS NO POVERTY ZERO HUNGER GOOD HEALTH AND WELL-BEING QUALITY EDUCATION GENDER EQUALITY CLEAN WATER AND SANITATION AFFORDABLE AND CLEAN ENERGY DECENT WORK AND ECONOMIC GROWTH == J1 ES ...
