LNG is transported both by the buyers' vessels and by the Grand series LNG tankers built specially for the project and chartered by the company on a long-term basis from two Russian-Japanese consortia. Liquefied natural gas is supplied to the countries of the Asia-Pacific region, where the share of Sakhalin LNG is about 6%. Oil In 2014, Sakhalin Energy brought Sakhalin Blend sweet light crude oil to the global market. The principal buyers of the Sakhalin Blend oil are Japan, South Korea, and China. These markets have strategic importance primarily due to their geographical proximity to the project and stable demand for sweet light crudes. Infrastructure While developing the oil and gas fields, the company has created a large-scale infrastructure for production, transportation, processing, and sale of hydrocarbons. This includes three offshore oil and gas production platforms, offshore and onshore pipeline systems, the onshore processing facility, two booster stations, an oil export terminal, the LNG plant, and gas transfer terminals. This is one of the world's most technologically advanced oil and gas projects implemented over the recent decades. 7
