Bangladesh's Development
Operating Expenditure
☐ Rise in some of the operating expenditures indicates a structural change in
the expenditures owing to rising disbursement for payment of domestic
and foreign debt and related interest payments.
➤ Such expenditures are likely to rise in the future as well.
☐ It is interesting to examine the reasons behind a reduction in some of the
important recurrent and capital expenditures.
➤ These include recurrent expenditures such as payment of allowances, pay for
officers, establishments, and supplies of goods.
➤ These also include capital expenditure such as the acquisition of assets,
investment shares, and share in the capital - CPD earlier suggested reducing
some of the capital expenditure which have little element of 'investment' rather
those are de facto ‘liabilities'.
