Madrid's economy is set to recover more strongly than the national
average at the end of 2021
The Madrid economy grew by 6.5% in 2021, one and a half percentage points higher than in Spain as a whole,
according to the advanced data provided by the INE.
This was mainly driven by household consumption, which grew by 8.3% compared to the sharp fall of 13.6% YoY in 2020.
The recovery in investment, with a significant rebound in non-residential investment, is notable.
The boost to economic growth in the Community of Madrid during 2021 and the first quarter of 2022 has mostly been driven by
the contribution of regional demand (3.1% YoY), in contrast to the slightly contribution of external demand (2.0% YoY).
