Krasnodar Academic Drama Theatre named
after Maxim Gorky
The Krasnodar Academic Drama
Theatre named after Maxim Gorky
is located on the main square of
the capital of the region (Teatral-
naya Square, 2) and rightfully rec-
ognized as the main theatrical
venues of Kuban. In 2020, its team
will celebrate the 100th anniver-
sary of its establishment. Till the
present day, the Drama Theatre is
a flagship of culture in the South of
Russia. It's loved and sought-after
by the public. The mission of the
theatre is to be a living space for
communication, art and reflection,
to be sensitive to current public
sentiments while preserving tra-
ditions carefully and transferring
them to new generations.
The repertory policy is based on a
harmonious combination of classi-
cal productions and modern dra-
maturgy. At the moment, 41 per-
formances are presented within
the theatre repertoire for all age
groups. Every year the theatre pro-
duces 4-5 new productions. An-
nually the theatre holds over 300
events that are attended by about
120,000 people.
Once every two years the theatre
organizes the Theatrical Kuban
Regional Festival named after M.A.
Kulikovsky, People's Artist of the
USSR, Winner of the State Prize of
the Russian SFSR.

Premiere, the Krasnodar Creative
Association named after Leonard
Gatov, is located on the Krasnaya
Street, 44, and comprises several
creative teams working in various
genres, including the Yuri Grig-
orovich Ballet Theatre, the Musi-
cal Theatre, Georgy Garanyan Big
Band, the Krinitza Ensemble of
Cossack Song, the Kuban Wind
Orchestra and others, which is
a definite advantage for the cre-
ation of artistic projects, highly
artistic works of the classical cho-
reography and music arts. At the
moment the repertoire of the as-
sociation includes more than 100
ballets, productions and musical
programs for a young and older
audience.
Legendary Choreographers of the
20th Century, a project by Yuri
Grigorovich; modern ballets "Anna
Karenina" and "The Master and
Margarita", F. Loewe's musical "My
Fair Lady" and many others have
become the brightest productions
of the latest years.
Annually, the association holds
about 350 events with the audi-
ence of more than 250,000 peo-
ple.
The Krasnodar creative associa-
tion annually holds a few festivals
and competitions, including Young
Ballet of the World, a contest of
Yuri Grigorovich; Opera Without
Borders, a festival and competition
of opera arts, the GGJazz Annual
Festival of Jazz Music.

The Krasnodar Regional Puppet
Theatre is located on Krasnaya
Street, 31. A special mission of
the theatre is to convey ideas
and values to the audience mo-
tivating people to create in all
spheres of their social life. Un-
doubtedly, the Krasnodar Pup-
pet Theatre is one of the best
in the South of the country. Its
unique creative team have been
gathered together for several
years by its permanent Artistic
Director Konstantin Mokhov. The
core of the theatre audience is
formed by children, however, over
the past few years the theatre
has produced two performanc-
es for adults: a performance and
concert "Games of Dreams" and
a play "King, Queen, Knave" after
the same-name work by Vladi-
mir Nabokov.
