During the last one year, UCP has redefined the scope and direction of its research activities for
producing innovative solutions for societal and industrial problems by enhancing the dimensions
of applied research and experimental development. This move is in line with the Chairman's vision
of creating a dynamic community of scholars and students who are devoted to serving our nation
and solving complex communal and business problems through their creativity and inventiveness.
UCP's research wing is now closely linked with industry and policy for playing its due role in the
national innovation system of Pakistan and increasing its competitiveness for producing cutting
edge and impactful research.
Besides this, UCP is taking initiatives to promote multidisciplinary research between overlapping
fields of various faculties. For this purpose, research groups have been created for multidisciplinary
knowledge sharing and producing effective solutions for the resolution of societal problems.
The compensation policies and doctorate degree requirements are being reformulated at UCP
with special emphasis on impact factor publications which are also Scopus indexed. A major goal
of this is to encourage the researchers at UCP to publish in more prestigious journals which can
eventually play a positive role in improving the university's Asian and global ranking.

With a motive to implement "Recognition and Reward System” where "high quality research" is
recognized and promoted, UCP's management introduced a new remuneration policy in 2021,
where the amount ranging between Rs: 25,000 to 55,000/- is rewarded to the researchers based
on the prestige of impact factor journal in its respective subject area. Besides this, a journal
publications fee of up to US $500 will be provided to the researchers if the journal is ranked
amongst the top 30% journals of its subject area.
Acknowledging Best Researcher and Innovators
Faculty and University Level
For the promotion of research culture at UCP, from the perspective of creative work and
transformation of ideas to patentable product and technology transfer, a new policy of "Best
Researcher and Innovator Award" has been devised and implemented. According to this policy,
9 faculty-level awards Rs 50,000/- each and 1 university-level award of Rs 100,000/- will be
awarded to the faculty members based on their achievements.
Establishing Ethical Review Committee
Keeping in view the growing demand from HEC and international funding agencies, the Ethical
Review Committee (ERC) was also established in 2021 as per the Best International Practices,
where a group of highly professional individuals have been formally appointed to scrutinize,
review and approve the proposed research studies in the context of maintaining the appropriate
protocols of ethical standards as per national/international rules & regulations. Besides this, the
Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) at UCP also carries out periodic
awareness campaigns for the benefit of scholars at UCP regarding internationally and locally
available research funds.
