Nova Realidade Covid-19 após 1 ano
■ Southeast Region
Southeast region extends over an area of 0.9 million km², about 11% of the national
territory. It is the most economically developed Brazilian region and also the most populous,
around 42% of the Brazilian population lives in the Southeast.
The region represents approximately 53% of the national GDP and economic activity
revolves around industry, finance and services. It is the most important financial center in
the country and in Latin America. Not surprisingly, it is the region with the best developed
infrastructure.
It has best qualified labor and a number of important educational centers. The high number
of inhabitants, high density of housing and the scarcity of space keep property prices and
the cost of living high.
