2 WHY HYBRID MAIZE? Hybrid maize generates high yields, increased value and reduced production costs. The plants are bigger, stronger and more vigorous. This hybrid vigor, or heterosis, occurs when crossing two genetically unrelated inbred parents to create a hybrid. MALE FEMALE Plants grown from hybrid seed are bigger, stronger and more vigorous than either of the parent plants. This hybrid vigor contributes greatly to the high productivity of today's maize growers.
