Our enabling legislation. The Department of Health was established as a department by the Governor under section 35 of the Public Sector Management Act 1994. Through the administration of key legislation, the department enacts authority over the WA health system and delivers its functions. The Director General, on behalf of the Minister, is responsible for ensuring this legislation is administered appropriately. The department is responsible for the administration of 30 Acts. In 2022-23, the Health Services Amendment Bill was passed and the Abortion Legislation Bill 2023 was introduced into Parliament.
