Largely absent from areas of cultivation around villages, and where suitable prey has been hunted out. Hunted for its tail and flight feathers which are used in ceremonial head-dresses, especially in the highlands. Habitat is being slowly lost to subsistence gardens, infrastructure projects and logging. HARPYOPSIS NOVE-GUINEE, Salvad.
