Masood Sahab etc. A huge Mushaira and a qawwali night was also part of the event.
After the 3-day event, In the closing ceremony Ifra Ghayyur received the 'Best Volunteer Award
and Zulkifle Ikram from FOS, UCP was awarded the Best Ambassador award.

Event on Allama Iqbal & Poetry
On 23rd November, UCP had Mr. Zulfiqar Ahmad Cheema, Former IG- National Highways and
Motorways, for an invited talk on Allama Iqbal and his poetry in the context of Youth of Pakistan.
Dr. Karrar Haider, HoD- Physics, FOS, hosted and conducted this show that lasted for over one-
and-half hour in University Auditorium.

Study trips conducted by Department of Zoology
The 2nd trip of Department of Botany was a three-day study tour from 26-11-2021 to 28-11-2021
to Murree and adjoining hilly areas. Lichens, Plants and fungi (bracket fungi) were sampled from
the said areas. Three types of lichens were collected from the area i.e., Crustose, Fruticose and
Foliose. Plants belonging to Asteraceae, Cyperaceae, Brassicaceae, Convolvulaceae, Apocynaceae,
Pinaceae, etc were also collected as herbarium specimen. Furthermore, quadrat and line intersect
methods were performed to study the plant communities. Similarly, the students also learned to
calculate tree height by clinometer method and Diameter at Breast Height (DBH) for estimation
of tree biomass. Moreover, the students learned the climatic variation in vegetation of Murree,
and Kallar Kahar regions.
International Youth Math Challenge
The International Youth Math Challenge is one of the biggest online math competitions for
students from all around the world that enables students from all countries to prove their math
skills and to unleash their creativity. Around 12,500 students participated from around 98 countries,
and the student under name and roll number, Ali Mansoor, respectively, qualified for the Pre-final
round and honored with a certificate.
CIMPA
The Centre International de Mathématiques Pures et Appliquées (CIMPA), founded in France in
1978, is a nonprofit organization that promotes research in Mathematics in developing countries.
CIMPA recently organized a CIMPA School at Comsats university Lahore. CIMPA has strict
standards for selecting participants from all across the world and our student under name and roll
number, Muhammad Hamza Rasool, respectively, was chosen and enrolled in the CIMPA School.
Field/ Study Tours
Study trip conducted by Department of Botany:
The study tour was planned to Kallar Kahar and to explore its adjoining areas on 20-11-2020 to
collect algae and flora of Kallar Kahar region. There were almost twelve algae e.g., Spirogyra,
Chara, Nostoc, Oscillatoria, Lyngbya etc and more than thirty plant species were collected from

Department of Zoology has done a study trip to Ayubia National Park between 2-4 July, 2021 to
familiarize the students of 8th semester with the conservation sites of Pakistan. Moreover, thjs
tour has helped the students in learning the strategies to save wildlife. This study trip was directly
related to the subject of conservation biology.
