RISKS AND OPPORTUNITIES GRI 102-11, 102-15, 102-30 JSL's Integrated Risk Management has in its matrix the Financial, Operational, Compliance, Image, Health and Safety risks, which are managed based on the Company's Risk Management Policy, including the identification, assessment, treatment, monitoring and communication of risks that may have a financial impact and interfere with the Company's strategic plan. Risk control actions are carried out at all levels of the Company and at various stages. From the evaluation stage, the treatment is defined, in accordance with the definition of the Board of Directors. It is up to the administrators and the Board of Directors to determine the responses to the identified risks. The Internal Controls, Risks and Compliance area is responsible for supporting them in the definition of action plans for handling and ensuring the implementation of the plans. The risk management process is based on the Coso methodology, version 2017, of the Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission, and seeks to integrate the ISO 9001 and ISO 31000 standards, thus adapting the governance and management of Information Technology Control Objectives for Information and Related Technologies (Cobit). The risks specifically associated with climate change and its impacts (read more in Climate Change) are identified through a self-assessment process, with the participation of the Sustainability Management and the Sustainability Committee. After identification, the risks are documented and categorized, for further evaluation of the causes, consequences and probability of materialization. After the assessment, risk treatment, monitoring and communication are defined. Climate risks are managed from a regulatory, operational, reputational, market and value chain point of view.
