The SHAPE SC Health Subcommittee recommends that public health and environmental protection be retained as one agency. The subcommittee recognizes that the role of environmental programs within DHEC share the mission of protection of human health. ● SHAPE SC The range of environmental programs reflect protection against illness from diseases that are spread through the air, water, waste, food and other vectors. • Importantly, no organizational restructuring should be undertaken without a full examination by the General Assembly of the fiscal and functional impacts of such action.
