The system of higher professional education of the Krasnodar Region comprises 74 higher educational establishments. The largest state establishments of higher education in the region are: • Kuban State University; • Kuban State Technological University; • Kuban State Agricultural University named after I.T. Trubilin; • Kuban State Medical University; There are programs for more than 200 specializations, including ones in the field of biotechnologies, nanotechnologies, information and communication technologies, etc. International academic co- operation and student exchange with more than 40 countries of the world are performed. Scientists of the territory conduct fundamental and applied research- es in the field of biology and med- icine, chemistry and physics, math, social sciences and humanities. The following institutes should be attributed to leaders: the All-Rus- sian Rice Research Institute, the North Caucasian Region Research Institute of Horticulture and Viti- culture, the Krasnodar Research Institute of Agriculture named af- ter P.P. Lukyanenko, the All-Rus- sian Research Institute of Biologi- cal Plant Protection and others. A scientific and educational com- plex that combines academic and university approaches to science smoothly has been formed in the territory. The complex is based on 5 federal scientific centres, 17 state research institutes with magnificent tradi- tions and great academic capaci- ty. The regional system of higher education is represented with 57 educational establishments of the higher education. Universi- ties and branches implement 113 training programs for the Bach- elor's Degree, 38 specializations, 86 training programs for the Mas- ter's Degree that cover a regional requirement for personnel to the full extent. In total, they form the academic sector of the regional economy with human capital as its major resource. Leading universities of the Krasnodar Region win federal priority educational projects and implement stra- tegic tasks of the region. Thus, FSBEE HE Sochi State University became a winner of the project "Flagship Universities of Russia"; FSBEE HE Kuban State University won the priority project "Universities as Centers of Innovation Creation Space"; FSBEE HE Kuban State Agricultural University named after I.T. Trubilin took part in the Consortium of the priority project "Development of the Export Potential of the Russian Educa- tion System". Educational innovation activity.
