US Case Study: The Moapa Band of Paiutes
EDFR and Moapa Band of Paiutes (located in Clark County,
Nevada), formed a partnership to support renewable
energy development following the retirement of the
Reid Gardner Coal Fired Power Plant.
In 2017, Moapa Band of Paiutes leased their land to EDFR
to partner on two solar + storage Projects totaling
870 MW...
Arrow Canyon currently under construction,
operational by 2022.

Indigenous members have been employed as monitors
for biological and cultural resources and are eligible for
training programs through the local labor union in
coordination with the Tribe's employment office.
The EDFR development team is working closely with key
tribe members, to ensure siting is sensitive to both
cultural practices and cultural artifacts, and ensure
minimum impacts on plants, medicines and wildlife.
