Hormone Therapy (HT) Treatment recommended to address long-term biological changes, including common symptoms of menopause, that result from declining levels of the natural hormones (estrogen and progesterone) during and after menopause. HT also helps to balance estrogen and progesterone in women around the time of menopause. Collapsing of HT's use worldwide after the announcement of the first results of the Women's Health Initiative (WHI) in 2002, which indicated that HT could have more detrimental than beneficial effects.
