➤Intensive culture in brackishwater ponds ● Practice in the southern and southeastern coastal area of China with many abandoned and existing shrimp ponds. The main cultured strain is Nile-Blue hybrid tilapia. Prior to stocking, fish are acclimated gradually to the salinity of 15%. • The salinity level in ponds should be controlled below 20%, beyond that the hybrid tilapia grow poorly and even die. Practices of the intensive culture of the hybrid tilapia in brackishwater are similar to those in freshwater.
