7 CALIFORNIA PROPOSITION 65: BACKGROUND (CONTINUED) REGULATORY BENCHMARKS: The No-Significant-Risk-Level (NSRL) is the long-term average exposure that corresponds to an excess cancer risk of 10-5 (1 excess cancer case in population of 100,000 individuals). The Maximum-Allowable-Dose-Level (MADL) is the "per-day" allowable exposure to a reproductive/ developmental toxicant that is 1000-fold less than NOAEL.
