Crude Oil production reached 1.67mbpd in September 2023 and is projected to average 1.78mbpd in 2024. The positive outlook in the recovery of the Oil and Gas Sector, which remains the major source of export earnings indicates that the efforts being made to implement the Petroleum Industry Act 2021, and thereby boost investments, as well as mitigate the production risks in the sector are beginning to yield positive results. The NNPC operates as a commercial entity and new regulatory bodies have been established: The Nigerian Upstream Regulatory Commission and The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority in line with the PIA 2021.
