Seizing crisis opportunity for agri exports
Comments
Over the last 5 years, the worldwide consumption of
wheat and corn increased by 6.0% and 7.1% respectively,
mainly driven by the population growth
Ukraine also increased its production and export recently:
export of wheat is expected to reach MMT 787 in 2021/22
while the corn should peak at MMT 1,168 reflecting a 22%
and 77% increase in export volumes, respectively,
compared to 2017/2018
With relatively strong export prices, corn and wheat are
key export commodities that have already brought US$
6.7bn in export inflows (as of Sep 2021)
Export of agricultural products itself constitute c. 40% of
all exports, with top 5 products share of c. 26%
