Large number of Academicians, Professionals, Research Scholars, and Scientists attended this virtual session. English Language Centre Introduction The English Language Centre (ELC) was established in 2019. The vision was to bring all English Language Instructors serving as language experts in 8 different faculties of UCP at one centralized platform to enhance English Language Teaching (ELT) practices. The ELC uses the blended approach through Skill based Language Teaching in the courses being offered in both on campus and online mode. The ELC catered to 13,332 students across 8 Faculties during the Academic Year 2020-2021 and this number is continuously growing. The Centre aims to enhance students' language and critical thinking skills to enable them to competently cope with the course material in English, across disciplines. Our courses comprised English 1, 2, and 3 and those were what emerged as the departments within the Centre. Two Team Leads were placed in charge of each department. English 1 constituted Functional English Courses, Reading and Comprehension, and Basic English Writing, later (Fall 2020) it also included Basic Writing Skills. English 2 initially started off with the Communication Skills Course and Business Communication and Report Writing was added in Fall 2020. English 3, Technical Writing and Presentation Skills was initially offered according to discipline specific needs to 4 faculties FOMS, FOIT, FLS, & FOL. In Spring 2020 FOS, SAF, FADP and FMCS courses were added and now we are also teaching this course in FOE. Strengthening teachers' pedagogy is imperative to the success of any programme. To address this area on ongoing basis a mentoring team was developed of the seasoned teachers with a programme with relevant tools to observe teachers and provide constructive feedback for continuous improvement. Strong language skills are imperative to both academic and professional success. To ensure that our students would get the required support to meet this goal, a Language Skills Centre was piloted in Fall 2019. This was based on the Common European Framework for References for Languages (CEFR) levels, an international system with global recognition. Both of these are innovations that set apart the services offered through ELC at UCP from other institutions.
