Irish/UK trade linkages will suffer following
Brexit
The UK is the second largest single-country
export destination for Ireland's goods and
the largest for its services
At the same time, Ireland imports 25-30% of
its goods from the UK. Consumer goods,
capital equipment and inputs into the export
process will become cheaper thanks to FX.
There is significant employment related
to Ireland's trade with the UK
The UK might only account for 17% of
Ireland's total exports, but Ireland is more
dependent than that, when you consider
the employment related to those exports
SMEs (particularly agri-food and tourism) likely
to be more affected than larger companies by
the introduction of tariffs and barriers to trade
