UCP introduced an in-depth research-based MPhil IR. The program aims to enable students to analyze complexities and processes involved in world politics and international affairs. Coursework provides exposure to the key subfields of the discipline and relevant issues such as Regional Politics, Globalization, Conflicts and Strategic Issues facing States. Coursework also includes International Relations Theory, International Security, International Political Economy, International Organization, and Foreign Policy Analysis. Program Highlights Graduates will be able to demonstrate proficiency in: • Analyzing classical and alternative theories of international relations, the heritage and development of the discipline, and the major debates concerning world order, diplomacy, and international law underlying its inherent nature as an interdisciplinary study within the field of political science. Evaluating the changing role of the state in the context of globalization, regionalism, and security, including the impact of non-state actors, competing interests, and emerging norms within international systems. Assessing the nature and distribution of economic, political, and military resources in the context of interdependence and delimited by cultural, social, and historical issues. Distinguishing the interactions of state, non-state, and supra-national actors through a dynamic appreciation of contemporary issues and differing levels of analyses. Examining the major theories of conflict and change and the role of traditional and emerging norms and institutions in the peaceful settlement of disputes, human rights, and environmental issues. After completing their research work, students will be able to demonstrate strong research skills, critically analyze international events and issues, apply theories of international relations on day- to-day events and state affairs and demonstrate effective communication skills. 12 Annual Report 2021
