The TAR has maintained the highest illiteracy rate in the PRC since 1990. The 2010 census lists
the TAR's illiteracy rate at 32% because it only counts the population aged 15 and up, but the
Major Figures of the 2010 Population Census lists it at 24% because it takes the percentage out
of the entire population. Either way, the TAR has an extraordinarily high rate of illiteracy
compared to the rest of the PRC. (Statistics Source: Sixth National Population Census of China 2010)View entire presentation
