Free Trade Zones & Nigeria Tax Regime Free Trade Zones in Nigeria: The Legal Framework - - Review of NEPZA & OGEFZA Provisions Section 1 of the NEPZA (a) empowers the President to designate areas as “export processing zones" on the recommendation of the Nigerian Export Processing Zones Authority ("the Authority"). Calabar EPZ was the 1st to be so designated in 1992. (b) Zones may be managed by public or private entities or combination of both under supervision of the Authority.
