Employment in Alaska's biggest industries is measured in the tens of thousands of jobs. A quick indication of how "big" or significant an industry or project is for the Alaska economy is to look at how many people it employs. Job numbers in the tens of thousands are very big. Job numbers in the thousands are big. Job numbers in the hundreds are not very significant relative to the total economy.
