Sanitation auctions already
held as from the validity of the
new milestone, between the
second half of 2020 and the
first half of 2021, will guar-
antee 700,000 direct and
indirect jobs in the country,
according to the Ministry of
Economy. The estimated in-
vestments are BRL 700 billion.
In Rio de Janeiro alone, thanks to the Cedae
concession, 400,000 direct and indirect
jobs are estimated. Among the sectors that
will benefit, and shall speed up the provi-
sion of jobs, are civil construction, produc-
tion of machinery, equipment and plastic
materials, technology and services. As the
concessionaires will be scattered through-
out the state, there will be a large increase
in local hirings.
The most significant impact will be on civil
construction. There will be an increase of
about BRL 424 billion in the sector's pro-
duction, generating almost 6 million jobs
over the investment period. The machinery
and equipment industry will also be great-
ly impacted; we would have an increase of
more than BRL 42 billion, generating almost
130,000 jobs.
