Independent Review of RBD Bangladesh's Development Economic Growth The deflators used for estimating GDP figures also appear to be problematic. According to BBS, in FY22, growth of personal consumption expenditure price index (which may be considered as a proxy for consumer price index) increased by only 5.3% - which is lower than FY21. With the prevailing high level of increases in prices of essential commodities, such background numbers used for estimating GDP creates doubt regarding the credibility of the GDP figures.
