Situation of Indigenous Peoples in Mato Grosso do Sul

Between 2003 and 2013 more than 150 conflicts related to territorial rights were reported in the Mato Grosso do Sul press. At present 8 indigenous leaders and 10 entire communities are included in the National Programme for the Protection of Human Rights Defenders. Information from Datasus (the Brazilian Health System unified database), show that, since 2008, 419 Indigenous children with up to 9 years in Brazil died from malnutrition.
