CHANGING LIFESTYLES 25% Share of the population aged over 65 in Europe and the United States by 2050. The increasing time spent indoors and the generalization of "work from home" are redefining expectations for residential buildings and leading to the search for a better balance between private and professional life. In addition, requirements are increasingly stringent in terms of health and comfort in all its dimensions (noise, temperature, light, aesthetics or air quality). All megatrends affecting habitat/construction require more modular and adaptable buildings, in order to facilitate the change of use of buildings during their life cycle (in particular to switch from office use to residential use, and vice versa). It also involves designing buildings capable of adapting to changing expectations, such as the needs related to home care for the elderly. Globalization and the average increase in the world's standard of living have also resulted in a trend towards the increased mobility of individuals. Decarbonization requirements and the densification of residential centers are simultaneously leading to the development of public transport networks with a view to strengthening them and making them more efficient, increasingly energy-efficient and less resource-intensive. With regard to individual vehicles, the transition is now underway towards models that emit fewer greenhouse gases, and which are more energy efficient and comfortable. For Saint-Gobain, changes in lifestyles represent both an opportunity - through the solutions that must be provided to meet them - and an important lever for transforming industry, construction and distribution in order to make them more sustainable. Generally speaking, the solutions provided by Saint-Gobain to design new buildings that consume fewer resources and are more pleasant to live in, to renovate all existing buildings and to deploy more efficient and sustainable means of transport are among the responses to address these new expectations. 2022/2023 INTEGRATED ANNUAL REPORT SAINT-GOBAIN ⚫19
