R&D Projects in 2022 GRI EU8 Innovation is essential to boost business. Aware of that, we have invested to find solutions and develop products that foster the improvement of the electricity sector, increase customer competitiveness and create value for society as a whole, as well as the environment. With this aim, we leverage business models and technological alternatives that lead to efficiency and reliability. We rely on department dedicated to developing new solutions, geared towards accelerating the future of energy, in accordance with the regulatory obligation of the Research and Development Program of the Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (Aneel). The department must invest 0.4% of the net operating revenue from the Company's hydropower assets to develop R&D projects. We must emphasize that the structuring and approval of some new projects were delayed, hence, the annual budget for 2022 of about R$9 million had to be partially postponed for the following fiscal year. This amount has also been significantly reduced by 30%, in compliance with Law 14.120/21, which cut the R&D resources for all companies in the industry. In 2022, we invested in the following projects: Environment and Safety ■The second phase of the Chimerism Project is focused on applying advanced reproductive biotechnologies in fish, by using the "surrogate belly" technique, developed in a research institute during the project's first phase.
