ANNUAL REPORT
PERU LNG 2021
PIPELINE
The PERU LNG Pipeline is an impressive piece of
infrastructure that represents a milestone in the
history of engineering in Peru. One of its most notable
characteristics is its high operating pressure, which
averages 1 800 psig (124 barg). It is thirty four
inches in diameter and can carry 1 million cubic feet
per day (MMcfd) of dry natural gas.
The Pipeline runs for 408 kilometres through
some of the world's most varied geography,
including mountains and gorges where access
is difficult, and crosses numerous rivers and the
coastal desert. Its highest point is more than 4
900 meters above sea level, earning it an entry
in the Guinness Book of Records as the highest
Pipeline in the world.
It has 14 shut-off valves for emergencies, six
pig launching and receiving trap, one metering
station and one pressure regulating station to
control the delivery pressure at the coast.
The starting point is at approximately kilometre
211 of the Transportadora del Gas del Peru S.A.
pipeline. in the village of Chiquintirca, Ayacucho
Region, in the central highlands. It ends at the
PERU LNG natural gas liquefaction plant on the
Peruvian coast.
