On August 5, 2023, the Central Bank of Brazil lowered the
SELIC rate from 13.75% to 13.25% after a sequence of 12
consecutive rate hikes, commencing in March 2021.
This series unfolded against the backdrop of escalating
prices in essential commodities like food, energy, and fuel.
Since August 2022, the rate has remained fixed at 13.75%
per annum for seven consecutive periods.

The SELIC rate is to reach 11.75% per annum by the end
of 2023, 9% in 2024, and 8.5% in 2025 and 2026.
The latest economic activity indicators consistently align with a scenario of deceleration, with annual inflation eased to 3.99% in the
last 12 months.
