HAZARDOUS WASTE MANAGEMENT • Government of India notified the Hazardous Wastes (Management & Handling) Rules, 1989 under the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986 and amended in the year 2008. Any chemical waste exhibits characteristics like Ignitability, Corrosivity, Reactivity and Toxicity is termed as Hazardous Waste. APPCB grants authorisations to the occupier, operator of a facility for collection, reception, treatment, transport, storage and disposal of HW.
