Opportunities
Considering the deficiencies of the public health system, health
services will continue to be the most attractive sub-sectors for new
medium-term investors. Between January 2017 and September 2018,
11 foreign companies (USA, Canada, Germany, Sweden, Australia and
Argentina) entered the market and expanded their operations in the
Brazilian healthcare sector through M&A operations.
• Access to more modern treatments for complex diseases such as
cancer as well as degenerative and neurological problems would
provide considerable growth.
The increase in life expectancy of Brazilians - from 65 years of age.
onwards, the tendency to have chronic diseases is high. And, given
that 42% of people over 60 years old take, on average, 5 medicines a
day, the potential for expansion of this industry is clearly seen.
