Financial income primarily consists of interest earned on investments and income earned on factoring transactions. Based on the analysis of the contingent liability, the Company cancelled accrued interest of Ps. 251,823 at December 31, 2012. 18.-SEGMENT FINANCIAL INFORMATION: Segment financial information is prepared based on the information used by the Company's senior management to make business decisions and on the criteria established in IFRS 8, Operating Segments. The Company operates in Mexico and Central America and sells to the general public, and it is primarily engaged in operating self-service stores. The Company has identified the following operating segments by geographical zone: Mexico: • Self-service: Operation of discount stores, hypermarkets, wholesale-price membership stores and supermarkets. • Financial services: Operation of bank branches to provide banking and credit services. • Other: Consists of department stores and real estate transactions with third parties.
