NATO presence in Latvia
Latvia's defence and security is ensured by synchronization of the membership of
NATO and EU, as well as different cooperation agreements
Currently 11 nations are represented in the enhanced Forward Presence
battlegroup in Latvia
During NATO Summit 2022 in Madrid it was agreed to scale up existing
battlegroups to brigade-size units, and before NATO Summit 2023 in Vilnius the
roadmap for upgrading Canadian-led NATO enhanced Forward Presence Battle
Group Latvia was signed.
