Winter Olympic Games 2014 In 2014 the 22nd Winter Olym- pic Games and the 11th Winter Paralympic Games took place in Sochi, Krasnodar Region. The Olympics in Sochi became one of the most largescale and big- gest Russian projects of the last 20 years. Not only two clusters of sports venues were construct- ed practically from scratch (the Olympic Park and the mountain cluster in Krasnaya Polyana), but also the infrastructure of a huge area, including all the South of the Krasnodar Region, was modernized. New electric pow- er plants and electrical grids, an underwater gas pipeline, waste treatment facilities, a port and an airport were constructed, as well as unique motor- and rail- ways with numerous bridges and tunnels, multiple hotels and residential houses. Due to new SOCHI 2014 modern infrastructure facilities, HOT. COOL. YOURS. TOW Sochi turned into an interna- tional sports centre and an all- year-round world-class resort. The Olympics gave a significant boost to the development of sports and healthy lifestyle in Russia and served as a strong factor of economic growth and creation of new workplaces (up to 600,000 workplaces were created). The total expenditures of the government and private investors provided for holding the Olympics amounted to 214 bln rubles (99 bln rubles from the State Budget), and expenditures for modernization of infrastruc- ture in Sochi and the Krasnodar Region exceeded the sum of 1.5 tin rubles. Formula 1 in Sochi. Since 2014 Sochi (Krasnodar Re- gion) has annually hosted a stage of the world-class racing cham- pionship. ONBH ENPH 24 Event Passport Krasnodar Region FIFA World Cup Matches of the FIFA Confedera- tions Cup 2017 and the FIFA World Cup 2018 were successfully held in the Krasnodar Region. During the time of the FIFA World Cup FIFA SOCHI (June 14-July 15, 2018) the recon- structed Fisht Stadium hosted six matches that were attended by more than 265,000 fans, includ- ing about 65,000 tourists from abroad. Fisht became the most 'successful' stadium of the FIFA World Cup 2018. 19 goals were scored in Sochi (plus 7 goals of a penalty due to the results of the match Russia - Croatia). A unique feature of the Fisht Stadium is that it became one of eight stadi- ums in the world that hosted the Olympics and the Paralympics, the FIFA Confederations Cup and the FIFA World Cup. Besides, the Krasnodar Region became a place of residence for six leading na- tional football teams of the world. Training venues of teams in So- chi, Gelendzhik and Anapa were handed over to children's sports school after the FIFA World Cup 2018. Formula 1 - Russian Grand Prix Formula 1 Grand Prix in Sochi is one of the brightest internation- al sports events in the framework of the Olympic heritage; it plays an important role for position- ing of the Krasnodar as a unique place for tourists, including those who come from abroad. The high- way is located on the territory of the Olympic Park and includes 16 turns. The length of the track is 5,848 meters.
