US National Health Expenditure ("NHE") Is Projected To Reach $6.2 Trillion by 2028
Health spending in the United States is expected to grow
at a pace of 1.1% year over year faster than U.S. GDP.
Healthcare spending in the United States, as a
portion of total GDP was 17.7% in 2019 and is
expected to grow by 11 percentage points to 19.7%
in 2028.
Chronic diseases such as cardiovascular disease
pulmonary disease, diabetes and obesity continue to be a
mainstay of American life.
Medicare is expected to experience the fastest spending
growth (7.6% per year over 2019-28), largely as a result
of having the highest projected enrollment growth.
