Introduction to Controlled Environment Agriculture
The growing, farming and cultivation of cannabis, flowers, fruits, plants, vegetables, grains and herbs in
controlled environment settings that allow end users to control key farming variables, including
temperature, humidity, CO2, light intensity and color, nutrient concentration and pH.
Through CEA, growers are able to be more efficient, effective and sustainable with physical space,
water and resources, enjoy year-round and more rapid grow cycles, with more predictable and
abundant grow yields compared with traditional growing methods.
Hydroponics is the primary category of CEA and we use the terms CEA/hydroponics interchangeably.
