Established in 1973, Allan Gray is the largest privately owned investment company in Africa - managing over R400 billion in investor assets. Since inception, our global mandate share portfolio has achieved an average annual return of 27.4%. This means that an investment of R10 000 made with Allan Gray on 15 June 1974 would have grown (before fees) to R142 111 981 by 31 December 2013. By comparison, the returns generated by the FTSE/JSE All Share Index (before any fees) over the same period would have grown a similar investment to R6 704 663. Our head office is in Cape Town and we also have offices in Johannesburg, Pretoria and Durban within South Africa.
