Sakhalin Energy is delivering a groundbreaking oil and gas project - the Sakhalin-2 project. This project involves the development of two offshore fields: Piltun-Astokhskoye (mostly oil) and Lunskoye (mostly gas) fields of the north-eastern coast of Sakhalin. Sakhalin Energy, an operator of the Sakhalin-2 project, was founded in 1994. Currently, the shareholders of Sakhalin Energy are Gazprom (50% plus 1 share), Shell (27.5%), Mitsui (12.5%) and Mitsubishi (10%). Sakhalin-2 is the first Russian offshore project in oil and gas production. Under this project, before 2009, the company had built an extensive production infrastructure. Currently the Sakhalin-2 project facilities include the following three: - offshore oil and gas production platforms;- onshore processing (OPF-pipeline); system, total length is 300 km;-Sakhalin-ET; the first liquefied natural gas booster system runs from the island to the north; and the first natural gas booster system (LNG-OBS) runs from the island to the north of the terminal
