FIRST FILM TWELVE YEARS A SLA DRIVING TO US nes FREEDOM RIDERS THE HUMANITIES The term 'humanities' includes, but is not limited to, the study of the following: language, both modern and classical; linguistics; literature; history; jurisprudence; philosophy; archaeology; comparative religion; ethics; the history, criticism and theory of the arts; those aspects of social sciences which have humanistic content and employ humanistic methods; and the study and application of the humanities to the human environment with particular attention to reflecting our diverse heritage, traditions, and history and to the relevance of the humanities to the current conditions of national life. How has the University of Missouri fared at NEH? Mizzou submitted 463 applications over 54 years (approx. 9 applications per year) Mizzou received 143 awards (approx. one award for every 3.4 applications); The 143 awards brought in just over $5 million in grant funds; Mizzou awards: 59 awards to individual scholars, 82 awards for institution-based projects, and 2 awards for infrastructure. Some comparisons: U of Kentucky (399 applications, 101 awards), U of Tennessee (584 applications, 146 awards), Louisiana State U (507 applications, 113 awards) .
