Alberta covers over 66 million hectares of land, 58% or 38 million hectares of which is forested. Of the forested area, about 60 per cent or 22.5 million. hectares are considered suitable for harvest. Annually, Alberta allows 25.9 million cubic meters (m³) to be harvested, of which 14.7 million m3 is coniferous, and 11.2 million m³ is deciduous.
