Sindh accounts for 50% of total production which is more than 200,000 tons. In Sindh, the highest concentration of date palm is in Khairpur District where there is a plethora of date palm trees, producing about 90% of total dates in the province. Approximately 300 different varieties of Dates are produced in Pakistan, out of which Aseel, Karblain, Fasli, Kupro are most prominent in Sindh. The Dates processing plant is aiming at value addition to increase the quality and shelf life of Dates. It's processing includes fumigation, sorting washing, drying, grading and finally packaging. The entire process flow is suggested to be semi-automatic requiring both skilled and unskilled workers. The Dates Processing Plant is located at Therhi Town of District Khairpur, Sindh, Pakistan. The dates selected for processing are graded or categorized as FAQ, GAQ, Industrial, High, A, B, C, Grades/ Categories.
