Telangana ranks 2nd in terms of Solar Power Capacity in India. The policy aims to provide fiscal incentives for investments in green energy and the development of a conducive environment for such industries. The programmes covered under this policy include Solar Power Projects (SPPs), Solar Rooftop Projects (SRPs), off-grid applications, and solar parks. To ensure a clean and healthy environment for its citizens by bringing down carbon emissions, the Government is encouraging the use of electric vehicles in the state. It is doing so by investing in vehicle charging stations and providing special power tariffs for charging (see Industries chapter for more details). According to the NITI Aayog's Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) India Index 2019-20, the state is a 'Front Runner' on SDG 7 on ensuring access to clean and affordable modern energy. Telangana will add another 1,000 MW of solar energy capacity in next six to eight months taking the total installed capacity to over 5,000 MW in solar power segment. Pink Book Telangana 2021 23
