Power
Capacity
in India.
The policy aims to provide fiscal
incentives for investments in
green energy and the development
of a conducive environment for
such industries. The programmes
covered under this policy include
Solar Power Projects (SPPs), Solar
Rooftop Projects (SRPs), off-grid
applications, and solar parks.
To ensure a clean and healthy
environment for its citizens by
bringing down carbon emissions,
the Government is encouraging
the use of electric vehicles in the
state. It is doing so by investing
in vehicle charging stations and
providing special power tariffs for
charging (see Industries chapter
for more details). According to
the NITI Aayog's Sustainable
Development Goals (SDG) India
Index 2019-20, the state is a 'Front
Runner' on SDG 7 on ensuring
access to clean and affordable
modern energy.
Telangana will
add another
1,000 MW of
solar energy
capacity in
next six to
eight months
taking the total
installed capacity
to over 5,000
MW in solar
power segment.
