Pink Book Telangana 2021 - 5#6MESSAGE FROM HONOURABLE CHIEF MINISTER OF TELANGANA Sri K. Chandrashekar Rao Chief Minister of Telangana Telangana, the 29th state of India achieved statehood on 2nd June, 2014 after a struggle spanning several decades by the people of this region. After due consultations with many policy and subject experts we embarked on the mission to create 'Bangaru Telangana'. Exponential growth with special focus on public welfare and equitable distribution has been the cornerstone of the Governance. The schemes are designed in line with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) to address issues like poverty alleviation, Gender equality, sanitation, Clean drinking water, Growth, employment etc. Long term goals like infrastructure development, irrigation projects, multi modal transport systems and clean energy initiatives have been formulated along with special focus on short term goals like welfare schemes and direct benefit transfer schemes for the marginalized sections. One of the ways to impact the people of the state is by generating employment. We are committed to making Telangana a hub for industrial growth. This could not have been possible without meeting the power needs of the state. We have ensured that the power needs of the state are met and within a short period of time we ramped up our capacities from below 6000 Mega watts before 2014 to more than 16000 Mega watts and aspire to cross 25000 MW in near future. Telangana is today a leading state in renewable energy production. To ensure sufficient water supply to the state, Kaleshwaram Lift irrigation Scheme was completed in a record time, propelling a change in the landscape of Telangana. 6- Pink Book Telangana 2021 With Mission Bhagiratha, we are the first state in India to ensure potable drinking water connection reaching all households.
